The Battle of the Boyne is regarded as one of the most important battles in the history of the British Monarchy as it marked the end of one period of rule and the start of a new one. But what exactly were the events that lead to the battle and how was the resulting victory achieved? Over the course of this session, I will briefly outline the events that lead up to the battle, the events that occurred during the battle and the events that followed the end of the battle. Join me for this introduction to a vital period of British History and we will investigate the people and places related to this most famous of battles.

Course aim

To understand the history of the Battle of the Boyne, including the events leading up to the battle; the events that took place during the battle itself and the impact of the Battle on the events that followed it.
