Art Appreciation: René Magritte

Ref: C2346505

We look at the work of the Surrealist, Rene Magriite, whose cool, straightforward style aims to challenge our preconceived ideas of reality and to break our habits of thought. He set out to explore, the mysteries lurking in the unexpected juxtaposition of everyday things, to make the real, everyday world appear 'unreal'. Magriite's paintings exclude symbols and myths - everything is visible - but often appear as wonderful riddles! No previous experience is necessary - just a lively, open-minded interest in art!
