This course is most beneficial for those with some experience in sewing ,but are willing to improve their existing skills. The course will cover a range of techniques including blind hemming for curtains,mitred corners and zip insertions in cushions. The course will also cover basic sewing techniques for those with no sewing experience - students are welcome to bring own projects

Course aim

The course is aimed at those with some experience in sewing but are willing to further develop the existing skills in soft furnishing techniques.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Development of independent research skills for ideas and inspiration
  • Enhance existing skills on soft furnishing
  • Learn new skills and techniques ,such as sewing heading tape to curtains and making a mitred corner on curtains
  • Select appropriate fabrics for cushions ,curtains and other soft furnishing items
  • Explore ideas on how to sell hand made items to family, friends or online to improve your confidence as well as your income

It is recommended to bring your own basic sewing kit, however we provide sewing machines and sewing room tools and materials .
