This course offers the opportunity to design and make your own beautiful, individual Jewellery from precious and non-precious metals. You can enjoy learning new skills while creating beautiful items of Jewellery for yourself, as presents or to sell. Things Covered in the Course: How to use all the tools and equipment in the workshop Cutting/piercing, filing, sanding your work Soldering metal Cleaning, polishing and finishing Jewellery Selection and purchase of precious and non-precious metals Designing your own Jewellery NOTE: It is possible to work entirely in copper on this course, which will considerably reduce your costs. It is estimated that in copper your materials will cost below £30, but in Silver the cost will be substantially more depending on your designs. If you are on a low household income you may be able to claim this cost back via our Discretionary Learner Support fund (please ask for further details)

Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Use the technique of sand casting to create Jewellery components
- Construct Jewellery using hollow forms
- Produce different textures on metal using the rolling mill
- Create a frame for a ‘pre-patinated’ or non metal element
- Produce your own Jewellery designs
What else do I need to know?
Bring £16 to the first session to purchase Silver. After the second session you will be responsible for purchasing your own precious metal; guidance will be given. (Please also see notes about this in 'Course Description' section) Bring a notebook & apron Wear closed toe shoes
