This course will teach how to improve your sewing and dressmaking skills. What techniques there are, which fabrics are suitable, where problems might arise and how to deal with them. How to use new tools and equipment to achieve a professional finish. You will need to provide and have your own sewing kit, a commercial sewing pattern, fabric and other notions. Large equipment is provided at the venue.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Show how to use a standard sewing machine
  • Explain the more complex sewing terms found in sewing instructions
  • Complete accurately a range of seams and construction techniques
  • Demonstrate hand sewing and finishing techniques
  • Create a well fitting garments
