All too often the garment you’ve just made doesn’t quite fit how it should? This course will teach how to make uniquely fitted trousers using a commercial pattern. What fit problems might arise and how to deal with them. The course will have lots of demonstrations and explanations. You will be expected to “sew along” with me and we will be using one of the below trouser patterns. Students will need to be able to sew to a basic level and have their own sewing machine and sewing kit with materials and notions. Vogue 9181 (size 6-14) Cashmerette Calder pants & Shorts (size 16-32) McCalls 6901 (size 8-24)

Course aim

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Show how to measure the body accurately
  • Explain the alterations and fitting terms found in sewing instructions
  • Complete a toile to aid the fitting alterations
  • Demonstrate hand and machine sewing and finishing techniques
  • Create a garment that fits you
