This course is for anyone wishing to advance their family history research. Opportunities to learn more about basic sources and resources will be offered alongside efforts to overcome blockages and challenges in the students progress. It will include engaging with the newly released 1921 Census and its expected impact on researching twentieth century ancestors. We shall work on organising our research and widening the use of available groups and organisations that will help us on the journey.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Contribute actively to a genealogy research group in cooperative and innovative ways.
  • Use with some confidence at least four online resources and websites.
  • Build a basic family tree on an online tree-builder.
  • Use Zoom and Canvas with some confidence.
  • Organise your research both online and offline in an accessible way.

You will need your own access to Ancestry or another online tree-builder to get the most from this course, although we shall be using free to use website too.
