This session considers the significance of Jesus as a historical and spiritual figure by looking at a passage in the New Testament of the Bible. Students will be invited to come to their own conclusions as they share together. It illustrates the nature of the follow on 8 week course of the same title.

Course aim

This session considers the significance of Jesus as a historical and spiritual figure by looking at a passage in the New Testament of the Bible. Students will be invited to come to their own conclusions as they share together.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Analyse one biblical account of Jesus in the light of historical and contemporary research.
  • Contribute verbally in positive and cooperative ways to a biblical study group.
  • Give at least 2 examples of the impact that Jesus has on the lives of people today.
  • Compare and contrast ideas based on other students' contributions and opinions.

It will be helpful if the student has a copy of the bible for reference. Pen and paper for taking notes are necessary.
