To feel more comfortable using a range of tenses and a variety of registers in communicating. Consolidate your knowledge with the use of authentic materials and your accuracy in pronunciation in a relaxed atmosphere. Develop an understanding of idiomatic expressions from France and French speaking countries. Most of the course will be in French but some explanations will be done in English.
Course aim
To consolidate your understanding, communication as well as your practise of French language, using authentic materials with references to culture and society in a friendly atmosphere. To express yourself applying a range of tenses/registers.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This is an advanced course for students with experience and skills in this subject
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Give at least a 5 minute presentation on a chosen theme and respond readily to questions.
- Identify and explain the main points of an authentic spoken passage of conversation involving one or more speakers, eg explain what is happening.
- Read and deconstruct authentic written texts of moderate length and complexity, eg translating an article or giving the key points of it.
- Structure and create at least 2 pieces of writing to produce a coherent text, in an appropriate register, for a specific purpose eg. describing favourite film and why it was chosen.
- Contribute every week to group activities and discussion to consolidate my pronunciation and intonation in French.
