This class will teach you how to make a range of small projects: cushions, bags, zip purses, peg bag/tea cosy, hanging hearts or birds or you can choose patterns of your own. Weekly skills will also be covered including buttonholes, ways to insert zips, piping, darts and more. Basic knowledge of the sewing machine is needed.

Course aim

This class will teach you how to make a range of small projects: cushions, bags, zip purses, peg bag/tea cosy, hanging hearts or birds or you can choose patterns of your own. Basic knowledge of the sewing machine is needed.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • This is an advanced course for students with experience and skills in this subject

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recall the steps of how to sew a cushion and add buttonhole fastenings on the sewing machine and practice this technique.
  • Demonstrate how to make a bag and follow step by step instruction from the tutor, various levels of bags will be included
  • Apply knowledge of how to insert a zip by making a zip purse
  • Understand and demonstrate further skills of inserting darts, piping, pleats and gathers by making samples or including these techniques in your projects.
