Cambridgeshire – Introduction to ESOL Entry 3/Level 1

Using everyday situations, we will practise giving explanations and descriptions in a range of tenses. We will look at when and where formal language is needed in some common situations (e.g. work, education). You will improve your grammar and extend your vocabulary. You will gain confidence and will practise a mock job interview.

Course aim

The course is for those students who have a good level of English and want to improve. You will have a lot of practice in speaking, listening, reading and writing. You will improve grammar and extend vocabulary.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • This is an advanced course for students with experience and skills in this subject

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Ask and answer more complex questions in familiar and new situations e.g. a mock interview
  • Give my opinion in a discussion
  • Give advice using ‘should’ and ‘would’
  • Write my CV and write/explain 5 strengths and 5 weaknesses
  • use the present perfect when writing about/discussing my life

Internet connection, speakers, a microphone and webcam to use Zoom. Personal email address to join our website Canvas, so that you can receive resources, record your progress and to work with others and share ideas. Bring certificates for English (ESOL) to the initial assessment. Course aim:

  • You declare that the address you provide is correct and that you will provide evidence of this and your eligibility to live and work in the UK
