Art of Strategy RL Wing usually available on ebay. If not available cheaply we will provide a copy.
Course aim:
This course is the sister course to Mentoring in Recovery. The primary content of this course will be how to engage others with similar problems for whom other avenues are either closed for whatever reason or that they have found unsatisfactory.
Course description:
Our students work with us because they find our approach enables them to gain a more flexible understanding of their problems and of their solutions, which they have not found with other systems and agencies. Our system works on the simple idea that strategies must be include an element of flexibility to accommodate changes and personal differences. Therefore we have included exercises which emphasize an open-minded approach to all individuals who may wish to take part in our courses, whatever the nature of their problems. We feel that using this approach in our communities enhances our availability as well as improving personal character traits.
By the end of the course I will be able to:
1. Discuss and understand practical use of simple strategies in our communities
2. Produce simple on-line approaches to local agencies where our group-support might be useful to those involved in such agencies
3. Share information gained by the above methods and explain where its practical use has produced benefits to others
4. Mentor others whether in groups or individually
5. See where methods used by other agencies such as AA and NA might now be available by using the new open-minded approach
How will I learn?

We expect you to attend your classroom sessions and make time to do any required learning activities on your own.

The WEA tutor will use a range of teaching and learning activities and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning. Your tutor will use tasks to see how you are learning, which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects, discussion, written or practical work. Your tutor will give you feedback on your learning and progress.

WEA Canvas online learning area

Whether your course is face to face or online, the WEA uses its online learning area, called Canvas, to support your learning. This includes using Canvas to think about and record your progress and to give your tutor and the WEA feedback on your course. Your tutor may put resources or activities on Canvas to use during or between lessons. If you want to understand more about our Canvas online learning platform please visit: www.wea.org.uk/help

WEA online sessions/ courses- Zoom

If your course is online, you will join a virtual classroom using a weblink: the WEA uses a video-conferencing tool called Zoom. To use Zoom you will need a Laptop, Computer, Tablet or Smart phone which has speakers, a microphone and a video camera. For some courses, to submit work, we advise you to use a laptop or computer. For more information on Canvas and Zoom please visit www.wea.org.uk/help
