Course aim:
This participative and friendly course is for adults who are entering the world of work for the first time, returning to work after a break or changing career.
Course description:
Are you worried or confused about how to find the right job? This course is for people who might be looking for their first job, returning to work after a break or for people who are considering a career change. (This course is only for students living in Southampton)
By the end of the course I will be able to:
1. Identify your own strengths and areas of improvement and list 3 of your transferable skills
2. Demonstrate increased employment-based vocabulary using CVs, job advertisements and application forms.
3. Demonstrate ability to search online job sites, select an appropriate vacancy and paste it into Canvas.
4. Show listening and comprehension skills by taking in and sharing 3 pieces of information about a classmate.
How will I learn?

We expect you to attend your classroom sessions and make time to do any required learning activities on your own.

The WEA tutor will use a range of teaching and learning activities and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning. Your tutor will use tasks to see how you are learning, which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects, discussion, written or practical work. Your tutor will give you feedback on your learning and progress.

WEA Canvas online learning area

Whether your course is face to face or online, the WEA uses its online learning area, called Canvas, to support your learning. This includes using Canvas to think about and record your progress and to give your tutor and the WEA feedback on your course.
