What else do I need to know? Is there anything I need to provide?
You will need to upload photos of your work done during the course for feedback. The second session each week is primarily for feedback. Please check your Canvas account about 2 weeks before the course begins for a list of materials you will need.
Course aim:
Combine collage with painting to add a new dimension to your landscape compositions.
Course description:
Express pattern, texture and movement by experimenting with a range of techniques including monotype and printing to make your own collage sheets. Use your collage sheets in combination with painting to make lively pictures and enable you to test new ideas without risking ruining what you have already done. You will also make use of traditional skills such as exploratory drawing, colour mixing and observing and manipulating tonal values. Taking inspiration from the other students and sharing ideas and experience is a valuable part of the course.
By the end of the course I will be able to:
1. apply acrylic paint in a variety of ways to express texture and movement
2. identify underlying forms and superficial patterns in a landscape subject
3. use collage to experiment with composition apply acrylic paint in a variety of ways to express texture and movement use collage to experiment with composition
4. modify tone and colour contrasts to make my picture more effective
