Course aim:
Simple but highly effective mindfulness practices can be incorporated into your daily life to help tackle anxiety, depression, stress and exhaustion. The result is a zest for life and an improved ability to cope with all that life throws at you.
Course description:
Mindfulness is a simple practice which can be incorporated into everyday life. The result is that you slow down and realise what’s important. Instead of constantly analysing, you become aware. Awareness is directly sensing things like the sounds of birds, the scent of beautiful flowers, a wonderful tasting meal, the sight of a loved one’s smile… things that are beyond thoughts and words. Awareness allows you to step outside the chattering negative self-talk. When you do so, a sense of quiet contentment begins to reappear in your life. By being more aware, you are able to see things that were not visible to you before. More possibilities open up and you end up choosing better ways to deal with life’s challenges. Many people report that time spent in mindfulness everyday ends up freeing up more time than it uses as it allows you to see what is truly important in life. You end up prioritising what enhances your wellbeing, and not wasting time on other things.
By the end of the course I will be able to:
1. Explain how to engage in mindful meditation
2. List benefits of mindfulness
3. Identify the difference between thoughts, emotions and moods
4. List ways the body and emotions are connected
5. Demonstrate understanding of the power of awareness
