Course aim:
To help you build effective communication skills: looking at the ways in you receive and respond to information in your work place, your studies and everyday life.
Course description:
Do you lack confidence in your communication skills at work? Could be better? It isn't just about talking, it's listening, evaluating and responding appropriately, and that's just the verbal part! We will explore the different ways to receive and respond to information in your work place, your studies and everyday life. Practise using the written word and speech appropriately – selecting the right tone for the situation. Join this supportive group, take some time to learn tips about communicating more effectively so you are prepared, professional and more confident when dealing with phone calls at work.
By the end of the course I will be able to:
1. Recognise barriers to effective communication.
2. Understand and list the steps needed for effective communication.
3. Develop strategies to improve your communication skills in a variety of situations.
4. Recognise the role non-verbal communication plays in interactions with others.
5. Recognise how asking the right questions can aid communication.
How will I learn?

We expect you to attend your classroom sessions and make time to do any required learning activities on your own.

The WEA tutor will use a range of teaching and learning activities and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning. Your tutor will use tasks to see how you are learning, which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects, discussion, written or practical work. Your tutor will give you feedback on your learning and progress.

This includes using Canvas to think about and record your progress and to give your tutor and the WEA feedback on your course.
