What else do I need to know? Is there anything I need to provide?
You will need a sketchbook (any size) Drawing materials, charcoal, ink, graphite. Rubber, sharpener, paints of choice (watercolours and for acrylics/oils). Advice on paints/brushes can be given on the course.
Course aim:
This course will focus on working from the landscape. It will explore creative approaches and different ways of working to create paintings and drawings using various media.
Course description:
This course is designed for those who are inspired by the landscape and want to express this through painting and drawing. We will spend time sketching in the landscape where possible, work from photos and draw on our experiences of landscapes. We will explore different techniques and creative approaches to create paintings and drawings using a variety of media in graphite, charcoal, ink, watercolour and acrylic/oils. We will aim to develop our skills in expressing ourselves through landscape painting, whether you consider yourself a beginner or are looking to further develop your artistic practice.
By the end of the course I will be able to:
1. Use a drawing exercise to develop observational skills
2. Explore ideas through drawing and create a sketch book
3. Experiment with a painting technique/s to create a landscape painting.
4. Research and discuss an artist's work
5. Identify a strength and area for development in your work.
How will I learn?

We expect you to attend your classroom sessions and make time to do any required learning activities on your own.

The WEA tutor will use a range of teaching and learning activities and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning. Your tutor will use tasks to see how you are learning, which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects, discussion, written or practical work. Your tutor will give you feedback on your learning and progress.
