All equipment is provided. Students will need to purchase materials from the tutor at cost price or bring their own. Depending on the project this might include tiles, china, adhesive and grout.
Course aim:
An introduction into the world of mosaic making. Suitable for beginners and those with a experience wanting to brush up on their skills.
Course description:
A brief exploration into mosaic techniques and glimpse the endless possibilities once the basic skills are learnt. You will see demonstrations showing how to use the tools, and discuss the choice of materials that can be either bought, found or recycled. You will concentrate on developing cutting skills and with guidance be encouraged to design your own mosaics. There will step by step instruction for beginners with the freedom to develop your own style.
By the end of the course I will be able to:
1. Identify the basic range of tools and materials used for making mosaics.
2. Demonstrate how you would design your own mosaic including research and source materials.
3. Use your mosaic nippers to cut and shape pieces for your mosaic work.
4. Describe how to grout and finish your mosaic.
How will I learn?

We expect you to attend your classroom sessions and make time to do any required learning activities on your own.

Your tutor will use tasks to see how you are learning, which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects, discussion, written or practical work. Your tutor will give you feedback on your learning and progress.
