WEA learning platform, Canvas, will be used for all relevant handouts each week. The emphasis of this short course will be of speaking and listening but do feel free to bring a notepad and pen. The tutor uses 2nd edition of the BBC book "Buongiorno Italia" with the CDs for part of each lesson.
Course aim:
This short course will introduce you to the magical Italian language! If you are planning an Italian holiday this year then this course is ideal as it gives you the basics for getting by.
Course description:
If you are planning a holiday to Italy and feel a bit unsure of how you'll get by with the language (no, you can't just add "O"!), then this is a good course for you. You will learn good pronounciation, introductions and greetings, ordering in a bar, shopping, asking where to find places and directions, simple restaurant language including asking for the bill. This is a fun way of learning, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You'll finish the course feeling confident and motivated to learn more!
By the end of the course I will be able to:
1. introduce myself and others, greet people and use formalities such as please and thankyou
2. go to a bar or restaurant and use basic vocabulary to order food and drink and pay the bill
3. explain how use correct pronounciation so as to be understood by a native speaker
4. ask "where is..." and repeat directions
5. go to a greengrocers and order fruit and veg
How will I learn?

We expect you to attend your classroom sessions and make time to do any required learning activities on your own.

Your tutor will give you feedback on your learning and progress.
