Create a Story Stack

Ref: CP1400049

After choosing a school reading book, you will plan and make characters from the book. You will think about activities that could be included, these could be puzzles, jigsaws, counting activities. You will then design and make these activities using different craft methods. You will make a bag into which all of the characters and activities can be stored, this is your Story Sack. A Story Sack and its contents can be used to enhance a story telling session within school and also at home, the story will be brought to life, children can be encouraged to improve their maths skills through counting characters, improve their problem solving skills and fine motor skills whilst completing a jigsaw. Children can feel so much more involved during a story telling session.

Programme aim

You will choose a storybook that children will be reading in school and create a Story Sack. The Story Sack will include the main characters from the storybook either puppets, knitted soft toys or laminated pictures. You will also design and make games and activities to compliment the book.
