In this course we will look into how we can use various hand embroidery techniques to create textile collages and embellishments. The course will cover hand embroidery stitches, hand applique techniques and hand patchwork techniques over 12 weeks.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify artists who use textile collage within their work
- Interpret the various techniques to inspire your own work and share your ideas with the tutor and class through discussion and practical work
- Design and create hand embroidered, appliqued and patchwork pieces throughout the course
- Use the techniques to create a finished project incorporating all or some of the techniques covered.
What else do I need to know?
Embroidery hoop Embroidery threads Needles Fabric/old clothes or tea towels (anything you want to sew on!) Plenty of small pieces of fabric (at least 5cm X 5cm) Ruler (to draw straight lines or various shapes) Fabric markers Needle threader and Thimble (optional) Print outs from Canvas
