Healthy Arts and Textiles

This practical course links your emotional health with textile practice, and makes connections with other people. We explore your landscape and contours to find meaning in textiles and a sense of place. Each week we will use practical methods of contemporary textiles: colour, print, stitch, patching, piecing and mending, to explore this theme and to make an important link to our wellbeing through creativity.

Course aim

To learn how use reflective stitch and connect simple textile art to make a positive contribution to your health and wellbeing.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Feel pleased with the textile outcomes you make
  • Gain confidence in using this approach to wellbeing approach in future art and textile projects
  • Gain experience in handling art and textile materials
  • Be able to applymindful skills to other areas of your practical projects

You will need to be able to thread a needle and if you have some scrap fabrics available to use it will be very beneficial to your outcomes
