This beginners course will give you opportunities to practise different techniques of Botanical Dyeing. Expanding your knowledge and developing your confidence in applying methods to your own artwork. You will learn how textile artists use basic plant dye techniques in their work. You will learn how to evaluate your own and others work to improve. You will find out about local communities and social media networks in which you may consider participating.
Course aim
Create colourful natural Botanical Plant Dyes to use on natural fabrics. Develop your skills practicing different techniques and experimental samples. You will also learn about key textile artists and their work.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- experiment with different plants and herbs and spices to produce dyes
- be able to control the depth of colour in dyeing natural fabrics
- You will be able to recognise how textile artists use natural and botanical dyes
- your will be able to progress on to further studies of botanical dyeing
What else do I need to know?
In this practical course you will you will need to supply your own fabrics and dye materials - practical class. Full guidance and websites for resources and alternatives found in your household can be used too! we may use photographic process called Cyanotype too!.
