Students will be introduced to Chinese brush painting using the free style method which offers more personal freedom to express themselves. We start with what the basic brush strokes are and how all the tools, equipment and materials work and can be looked after. We will look at the health and safety of the paints and inks as some items are toxic and must be handled properly such as seal paste, stone blue, stone green , gamboge and cinnabar. There are many subjects we can paint in freestyle but after a few demos of basic techniques I will be lead by student requests as to what additional subject matter they may wish me demonstrate.
