Course aim
The VTCT Certificate in Cosmetic Make-up course is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a make-up consultant. The units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.

- The primary outcome of the VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Cosmetic Make-up is to prepare you to enter the specific sector of beauty therapy as a junior make-up consultant. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role of a junior make-up consultant.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Demonstrate the correct application of make up
- Demonstrate how to provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of health and safety practice in a salon environment
- Demonstrate how to promote client care and communication in beauty related industries
- Demonstrate the skills required to work as a junior make up consultant
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- Your tutor will provide written, text and audio feedback recorded in WEA Canvas, WEA’s digital learning platform.
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
What else do I need to know?
- You will also need access to the internet outside of your sessions. You could do this using a smart phone, tablet, laptop or a desktop computer (at home or through a library etc.).
