This course will teach you about fractions- adding, subtraction, multiplying, dividing with same denominators, different denominators, mixed numbers, improper fractions, proper fractions, simplifying, greatest common factors, prime numbers. The course will also teach you about ratios, multiplication, addition, subtraction and division. it will teach you of different methods to get to the same correct answer such as grid, chunking, bus stop, long division, long multiplication.
Course aim
This course will teach you about pure mental arithmetic maths of addition, multiplication, division and fractions.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- calculate fractions using whole numbers, mixed numbers.
- add numbers using the, chunking and column method.
- subtract number using bridging method.
- divide numbers using the bus stop and long division method.
- multiply numbers using long multiplication and grid method.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
What else do I need to know?

- You will also need access to the internet outside of your sessions. You could do this using a smart phone, tablet, laptop or a desktop computer (at home or through a library etc.).
