A fantastic bundle of courses for anyone interested in learning about wellness. The courses include: L1 Award in Stress Awareness , L1 Award in Mental Health, L1 Awareness of Substance misuse, Mindfulness To find out more contact hduerden@wea.org.uk or call 07554436934. Our courses are free to anyone on a means tested benefit or earning less than £18,525 per year. All our courses are currently delivered online using zoom and online learning platform, Canvas.

Course aim

During this session you will be able to tell us about your skills, experiences and interests so that we can make sure the course you want to attend is right for you. You will need to complete a short assessment activity during this session.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • You will need your own personal email address so that you’re able to login to the WEA’s digital learning platform: WEA Canvas.   • You will need to be able to follow links to join our WEA live video learning platform: WEA Zoom. If you’d like to understand more about our video learning platform, Zoom please visit: http://bit.ly/WEAonline and http://bit.ly/ZoomSpec
  • This session is for those with an interest in wellbeing. You will need a sound grasp of English as you will be require to speak, listen, read and write up to Level 1. This will be assessed through a task you will be asked to complete during this session.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify the skills I have, need and will develop during a course
  • Agree whether I will be able to/ am ready to start an accredited course
  • Prepare for enrolment or referral to other learning opportunities

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course.   • Most of your learning will take place in your class, but one or two sessions will be online using WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas, working by yourself or engaging with other students.   • During the initial assessment you will be asked to complete a written task and will have a verbal conversation with a member of staff to discuss the course.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • Staff supporting the initial assessment will provide you with verbal feedback to help determine your next steps
