Roots to Well-Being

Roots to Wellbeing is a 5-week programme that focuses on improving your health & wellbeing plus work related skills to increase your chances of finding work. The learners will complete a Level 2 City and Guilds Health & Safety in the Workplace Qualification, Employability Training, Customer Service and a variety of other workshops in subjects such as Mental Health, First Aid and Fire Safety.

Course aim

The programme will help improve future job prospects by boosting candidate’s confidence, increasing their motivation, building resilience and developing new skills for work

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Improved communication skills
  • Build confidence and self-belief
  • Break down barriers that have been holding you back
  • Take next step towards a job, volunteering or training
  • Set self-exciting goals

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • Laptops provided by Groundwork GM. Arrangements will be made to enable learners to work from home if need to self-isolate through provision of IT equipment and access to broadband if needed

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • City and Guilds L1 Health & Social Care Learners will be given a variety of job roles they are interested in to research for mock interviews Learners will be supported with jobsearch, job applications and interview preparation for opportunities identified during the 5 week course.
