The online course will cover the following topics: Climate and climate change – sea ice, glaciers and global sea levels, species that are directly effected by global warming, the earth temperature trends. Environmental Issues – the causes of pollution, health effects of pollution, how litter and waste effect the air we breathe. Recycling – the 6 R's of recycling, how recycling benefits the environment, the challenges of recycling. How to make change.
Course aim
Course Aim The aim of the course is to provide the learner with an introduction to environmental awareness including global warming, environmental issues, recycling and how to make changes to support environmental sustainability.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- A broad understanding of environmental issues and what we can do to help sustain our environment
- Understand how indoor and outdoor air pollution effects the air we breathe and our health.
- Understand the meaning of the 6 Rs of recycling and be better equipped to effectively recycle your own waste.
- Make informed choices to contribute to environmental sustainability.
- Understand the causes and the effects of global warming.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course. What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will be able to keep a record of your progress and achievement using photos, audio, text or documents uploaded into the WEA’s digital learning platform, WEA Canvas.
- Your tutor will provide written, text and audio feedback recorded in WEA Canvas, WEA’s digital learning platform.
- You will be able to keep a digital portfolio of your work on WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas.
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
