This workshop explores teen mental health issues such as stress and anxiety. Work with other parents to explore your child’s challenges when growing up into adulthood. Learn to recognise the signs and symptoms to look out for. Know what our teens need from us as parents to grow in confidence and independence, as well as learn practical skills to help them cope.

This course is offered in partnership with East Surrey College and is for parents and carers living in East Surrey - Tandridge, Mole Valley, Epsom and Ewell and Reigate and Banstead.
Course aim
This workshop aims to help you support your teen to manage stress and anxiety. By recognising the causes and symptoms and the kind of support that helps, you can help your child to build resilience.

- This course is for a group of around 15 students studying in a live video-learning platform conference and an online digital learning environment platform from the comfort of your own home.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Understand the meaning of stress and anxiety and common signs and symptoms
- Understand causes and challenges of stress and anxiety in teens
- Understand what support teens need from parents
- Review a range practical skills to deal with reducing stress and anxiety
How will I be taught?
- The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course. What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will be able to keep a record of your progress and achievement using photos, audio, text or documents uploaded into the WEA’s digital learning platform, WEA Canvas.

- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
