A dance class built around the abilities of the group, no previous experience needed. A weekly gentle warm up to improve movement, flexibility and strength. We will learn different genres of dance from jive to disco, jazz to modern, musical to country...the choice is yours! The chance to learn short routines, to get fit, have fun and Dance For Joy!
Course aim
Learn new dance routines with a West End performer! Every week a different style, from Jazz to Motown, Pop to Charleston, Jive to Country, the choice is yours... Improve fitness and mental well being in a fun and supportive environment!
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Feel I have improved my mental and physical fitness.
- Learn a series of short routines from West End shows, to Country, to Jazz!
- Learn how to move to different genres of music, count in bars and have a much greater understanding of different aspects of dance.
- Have the opportunity to work in small groups creating short dance pieces.
- Made some new friends and had the opportunity to socialise with a new group of people in a fun and supportive environment.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
