Course aim

his ESOL course is for beginners. It will help you to develop basic reading skill in English.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Read simple English words, using knowledge of letter sounds
  • Use basic punctuation to help you read.
  • Read simple sentences in English on a familiar topic.
  • Work out the purpose of a short text on a familiar topic.
  • Read information in a short text on a familiar topic.

How will I be taught?

  • You will do lots of different activities with examples from real life situations You will work together with other students and the tutor, as well as working on your own. Your tutor will give you homework

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • Your tutor will help you to set targets for your learning. Your tutor will give you regular friendly feedback about your progress.

What else do I need to know?

  • Official document(s) showing your name, address, date of birth Certificates for English / English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) qualifications you have.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
