Portraiture - How to Draw Your Loved Ones

Have you always wished you could draw? Why not join me on this relaxed, fun course with like-minded people. I will guide you through drawing different features of the face with some useful tips. All you need is your pencil and some paper. We will also look at art by some popular or well-known portrait artists and their styles.

Course aim

To provide basic drawing skills for the face, learning to draw the eyes, nose, mouth, then applying the skills you have learnt to create your own drawing of a loved ones a face.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • 1. Understand 2 facts about why people have painted portraits for the last 5000 years
  • 2. Draw an eye/nose
  • 3. Complete a drawing of a face

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

  • Nothing else is needed
