This course is suitable for learners who are new to using a computer and want to build up their confidence. If you are a beginner and need help getting started on a computer, or need to improve your current basic computing skills then our Digital Skills course will get you started on your journey. This is a non-accredited course and a practical and flexible way of improving your ICT skills in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Course aim
The aim of the course is to build your confidence and skills in using a computer/laptop.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is for beginners
- This course is for people with little spoken English
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Use the mouse and keyboard with confidence
- Search for information on the internet.
- Compose an email to a friend, family or organisation and add an attatchment.
- Use Zoom and Canvas for online learning.
- Explain how to stay safe online.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
What else do I need to know?
- Nothing else is needed
