We will look at different skin types and discover the best way to prepare skin, including applying colour correction and choosing the right products for your skin type. We will try out a range of different looks, including evening and everyday makeup. Beginners and improvers are welcome. The tutor can support with Urdu and Punjabi if required.
Course aim
An introduction to skincare and makeup for those who want to learn effective techniques and use them at home with family and friends.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?

- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Choose the right type of skin products for myself and explain the features of other skin types.
- Apply base, colour correctors and concealers correctly and effectively.
- Design and apply a professional level look suitable for daytime and evening.
- Trim and fix eyelashes.
- Log onto Canvas and complete the learning outcomes quiz.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course. - The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
- A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
What else do I need to know?
- You will need a personal email address to join the WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas so that you can receive resources, record your progress and achievement and to work with others and share ideas. - It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
- Students will need to provide their own makeup and products and the tutor will give guidance about how to source cost effective items. You do not need to bring any makeup to the first session but please bring a notebook and pen.
