Course aim
To consider the extent of the visual impact and different aspects of railway poster art in the 1920s & 30s in Britain.

- This course is for a group of around 15 students studying in a live video-learning platform conference and an online digital learning environment platform from the comfort of your own home.
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Contribute to constructive discussion about the material being studied
- Understand the background to the production of the posters & railway companies
- Realise the socio-historical significance of the vast output of publicity material by the railway companies in the 1920s and 30s
- Consider the different ways this visual advertising created an impact with its bold approach of colour & image
- Analyse and compare a wide range of examples of poster art work
How will I be taught?
- The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course.
