This short course is designed to enable students to understand how to share and support each other, especially in these very testing times. Counselling skills are useful tools in many industries, and this introduction course offers some of the basic tools to get you on your way. Because you have an insight to counselling you may also choose to use this course as a stepping stone to achieve a more detailed program, if you are considering a career in counselling.
Course aim
This is a short course which introduces participants to counselling. The aim of this course is to provide you with a brief but meaningful counselling experience.

- Appreciate why journaling helps reflection
- Understanding what counselling is not
- Understand the key components of counselling
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
What else do I need to know?

- All materials will be provided
