We will explore the evolution of art and architecture throughout Europe and the wider world during the period AD 1550 – 1650. Important themes will include Baroque architecture, the art of Moghul India, and the golden age of Persian architecture.
Course aim
Introduce students to European and World art and architecture from AD 1550 – 1650.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify a series of artistic styles and forms pertaining to the period.
- Explain the reasons for changing influences in art and architecture 1550-1650.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of key architectural sites and historic artworks.
How will I be taught?

- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
