Italian Beginners Taster

We'll have a brief look to the phonology, the gender of nouns, how the modifiers and articles must agree with the quantity and the gender of the subject and the word order. This taster is aimed at students who have mastered the basics of Italian and would like to take their next steps. The taster could lead to more learning.

Course aim

This taster is aimed at complete beginners wishing to learn the basics of Italian, how to get directions, simple greetings, ordering food

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • have a grasp of the commitment required to learn the basics of Italian.
  • get the confidence to embark on a short and very basic language course.
  • set realistic goals.
  • use some tips to study Italian.
  • focus on the kind of learner you are and make the most of it.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course.   • In this short session, you will be asked to view charts, reading out loud some words, listening to and repeat tricky sounds and form the plural of nouns.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • The decision whether to sign up or not to a beginner's course is left entirely to you. The tutor will point out though what is expected from you in terms of studying independently from home, should you decide to sign up to the course.

What else do I need to know?

  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2020
