Gentle exercise & healthy living

A safe and effective gentle exercise course focusing on health and functional fitness. Each week will contain a top to toe warm up, aerobic routines, strength exercises and a cool down which includes Tai Chi movements, stretching and relaxation. Alternatives and adaptions will be offered to ensure everyone can participate. Each week will involved a short open discussion on different health and wellbeing topics to encourage living a healthy lifestyle. An enjoyable class in a friendly environment.

Course aim

A fun and enjoyable gentle exercise course suitable for all. Exercises to increase fitness levels and improve health and wellbeing through improving balance, co-ordination, strength and reducing stress.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise the need to be physically active throughout life and how this can change due to health related circumstances.
  • Feel the benefits from attending regularly and participating in gentle exercise.
  • Recognise which areas of my health and functional fitness have improved (such as balance, co-ordination, mobility) and which exercises have helped.
  • Discuss what a healthy lifestyle Is and how we can improve health and wellbeing. Discuss what I’ve enjoyed and how participating has impacted on my health.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course.   • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • Wear suitable comfortable clothing and footwear. Contact tutor for further information if required.

As a registered charity, and to meet our funders’ requirements, we need to check a few things with you before you enrol. Please check the details below to ensure you meet the basic eligibility critiera:

  • You have a valid email address so that you can receive confirmation of your booking
