An introduction to some of the key elements within the practice of Mindfulness. An opportunity to try different techniques/tools/practices that can enhance our well-being and quality of life. There will be a different main topic each week where we will explore some of the practices related to the topic and how/why they can benefit us. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to engage with the practices and explore different possibilities for dealing with daily stressors in our life. If you are willing to do the practices as 'homework' you will gain more/extra benefit from doing this course. This course is a fully online with no physical meeting space, accessing the course through Canvas our virtual learning environment and zoom a video conferencing software.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

- This course is for a group of around 15 students studying in a live video-learning platform conference and an online digital learning environment platform from the comfort of your own home.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- experience different breathing techniques
- Have the potential to adopt a different approach to stress in daily life
- recognise and experience a selection of elements that come under the general banner of 'Mindfullness' practices
How will I be taught?
- The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course. - We will aim to use the on line learning platform in a similar way to a 'normal' classroom. Mindfulness practices will be done in class with some feedback/inquiry afterwards. Some questions for the individual to answer/consider both in class & at home. Doing the practices at home will be beneficial
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will be able to keep a record of your progress and achievement using photos, audio, text or documents uploaded into the WEA’s digital learning platform, WEA Canvas.
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
What else do I need to know?

- Make sure you create a quiet space where you will be undisturbed for the duration of the lesson. Have things to keep you warm, if necessary. A pen and notepad of you would like to take notes. This is more of about a learning experience rather than academic, graded learning.
