The course will explore health and care services that are available to adults and children and the variety of roles within these services. Discover the values ,principles, skills and attitudes needed to work within Healthcare, Adult care and Childcare sector. Students will be able to identify and develop essential skills and attitudes needed to work within these sectors. This course is a fully online with no physical meeting space, accessing the course through Canvas our virtual learning environment and zoom a video conferencing software.
Course aim
The course aims to give students an overview of the values, principles, skills, and attitudes required for working in Healthcare, Adult care and Childcare.

- This course is for a group of around 15 students studying in a live video-learning platform conference and an online digital learning environment platform from the comfort of your own home.

- Willing to understand the values, principles, skills and attitudes needed to work with vulnerable adults and children is essential.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify the range of service provision available in Health care, Adult care and Child Care.
- Identify the range of Job roles within Health care, Adult care and Child Care.
- Recognise the range of skills and attitudes essential to work within Health care, Adult care and Child care.
- Describe legislation principles and values that underpin Health care, Adult Care and Child Care.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course. - The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You will be encouraged to explore the range of services in your local area and research the possibility of volunteering to enhance your skills in the Health Care, Adult Care and Child Care sector.
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- Your tutor will provide written, text and audio feedback recorded in WEA Canvas, WEA’s digital learning platform.
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
