Students will be encouraged to identify their existing, transferable and potential skills to enable them to plan for their personal and professional development. Students will map out their next steps by finding information and identifying and exploring opportunities for support and development.

Course aim

The course aims to help you identify and appreciate your own skills and qualities to enable you to plan your next steps and achieve your potential.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is open to Unison members only

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify existing and potential skills for both personal and professional development
  • Demonstrate increased confidence about own skills and abilities
  • Identify opportunities, information and support to develop skills further
  • Highlight and value own achievements

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
