Master the art of cooking this quintessential Italian dish, so flexible and so moreish! With these tips, Italian Risotto will be become a regular in your culinary repertoire. You will learn about the 9 different types of risotto rice used in Italy, and we will explore the differences in the components used when cooking a seafood or vegetarian variety. I will share some great serving ideas whether you are serving risotto as a side dish or a stand alone main course. This session will be a mixture of live demonstration and video clips with lots of interactive time for questions and chat! Learn the chef's secrets and make Italian Risotto a family favourite!

Course aim

To learn about Italian Risotto: how to cook and present it well, the ingredients and the many varieties of Risotto you can make.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • You will need your own personal email address so that you’re able to login to the WEA’s digital learning platform: WEA Canvas.   • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Name at least 3 of the 9 different types of risotto rice used in Italy.
  • Describe the method of how to make a risotto.
  • Describe a way you can serve seafood risotto.

  • The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course.   • Your tutor will provide written, text and audio feedback recorded in WEA Canvas, WEA’s digital learning platform.

What else do I need to know?

  • Students won't need ingredients on the day. Printed recipes will be in Canvas for you. Kevin will use live demonstration and video clips to show you how to cook the recipes.
