Collage - Using hand decorated papers

Bring more originality to your collages by creating interesting papers to work with. Using a range of media and different processes, students will explore contrasts of colour, shape and texture in their creative work. This introductory course is aimed at anyone who wants to improve their visual skills and is prepared to be experimental, have fun and share ideas.

Students will require access to art materials. A list will be provided on canvas following enrolment.

Course aim

Create your own collage papers using a range of processes such as mark making, painting and printing. Then, using visual references, incorporate these papers into dynamic collage compositions.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Prepare collage papers using a range of processes such as mark making, painting and printing.
  • Explore and create visual elements such as shape, texture and colour.
  • learn at least two techniques and processes to create your collage papers.
  • Create at least one piece of collage artwork using visual references as starting points.
  • Gain confidence in creative work by having fun and sharing ideas with others.

How will I be taught?

  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
