This workshop is for those new to minute taking or those with limited experience. It will take learners through a variety of exercises to help them become more confident in their role as minute-takers. We will look at - why minutes are important - different styles of minutes - preparing for the meeting - taking notes / minutes - what to do after the meeting - how to overcome problems that may arise
Course aim
To provide an introduction to minute taking and provide learners with an opportunity to practice minute taking.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify different styles of minutes
- Recognise the importance of good preparation and planning before meetings
- Become more confident in taking minutes through practice
- Understand the role of the minute taker after the meeting has taken place
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
What else do I need to know?

- You will need writing paper and pens to practice taking notes / minutes.
