If feeling anxious and stressed is part of your everyday life it may lead to health problems. Understanding what anxiety is and what causes it helps us to tackle it head on. By releasing stress and anxiety levels using stress relieving techniques and practising mindfulness we can learn how to let go of the constant overwhelming feeling of being anxious and stressed.

Course aim

Feeling constantly anxious and stressed can leave us feeling exhausted so we need to tackle it head on, understanding what anxiety is and learning how to control it whilst releasing stress is the objective of this workshop.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for a group of around 15 students studying in a live video-learning platform conference and an online digital learning environment platform from the comfort of your own home.
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise and release stress and tension in the mind and body
  • Understand what anxiety is and how to control it.
  • Relax and use mindfulness meditation to release built up stress and tension and alleviate anxiety.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
