Nature Printing for Beginners

An introduction to nature printing, this course will encourage you to go for a walk to gather suitable things from nature to create wonderful art with. You will learn how to leaf print, Eco print (using leaves and flowers natural dye that is extracted with heat) and other techniques. You will find fun ways to use your prints, wall hangings, greetings cards, etc. This course is designed to be relaxing and fun.

Course aim

Introduction in to nature printing and Eco printing, using natural methods to produce nature art on paper.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • You will need your own personal email address so that you’re able to login to the WEA’s digital learning platform: WEA Canvas.   • This is a live lecture delivered by a subject specialist in an online webinar video learning platform. You will need to be able to access the internet on a device with speakers or earphones.   • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Make a leaf print
  • Make an Eco Print
  • Name one natural dye that can be extracted from a leaf or a flower.
  • Decorate a paper item with a Nature Print.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course.   • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time
  • You will need to collect items from Nature to print with. Details will be given in class/on Canvas.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

  • 2 spray bottles water colour paper 2 sheets of teflon iron mini foam roller (available at all DIY shops cheap) Acryic paints
