Come along to this exciting and interactive course that will leave you feeling enthusiastic & confident in using Zoom and more familiar with Canvas. You will learn a variety of functions and get the chance to explore your own capabilities with Zoom and feel more at ease with using the virtual learning environment - Canvas. During the course you will learn how to identify the essential tasks to complete before your course starts, have an induction refresher to ensure ensuring e-safety, safeguarding, British values and Prevent are done, add Zoom link to your course and learning outcomes to the SLR, identify and complete the SLR forms, record/upload files to Canvas, learn to use survey statistics to help you complete your tutor form, decide what to include on the Navigation Bar for Students, organise your Course Cards, learn to embed videos onto Canvas, learn to import Content from your My First Course Card and remember how to log out of Zoom account.

Course aim

This online course aims to develop ability and raise confidence in the use of Zoom and Canvas to prepare tutors and core staff for using Zoom and Canvas for work and education.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • You will need your own personal email address so that you’re able to login to the WEA’s digital learning platform: WEA Canvas.   • This is a live lecture delivered by a subject specialist in an online webinar video learning platform. You will need to be able to access the internet on a device with speakers or earphones.   • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • This course is for WEA tutors and core staff

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Learn how to identify the essential tasks to complete before your course starts, have an induction refresher to ensure ensuring e-safety, safeguarding, British values and Prevent are done, add Zoom link to your course and learning outcomes to the SLR.
  • Identify and complete the SLR forms, record/upload files to Canvas.
  • Learn to use survey statistics to help you complete your tutor form, decide what to include on the Navigation Bar for Students.

  • Learn to import Content from your My First Course Card and remember how to log out of Zoom account.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course.   • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • Your tutor will provide written, text and audio feedback recorded in WEA Canvas, WEA’s digital learning platform.
  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?
