During this course, you will read stories and talk about them. You will be encouraged to learn on your own as well as with others. You will also become better at using the computer to do fun activities.

Course aim

You will start reading for pleasure by looking at some simple stories. The course will help you to enjoy reading and talking about texts. You will practise reading and become more confident talking about your ideas online.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • Basic E2 reading skills

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Read stories
  • Talk about ideas
  • Talk about characters.
  • Get better at talking about ideas
  • Learn new words

How will I be taught?

  • Zoom with discussion and group activities Canvas with online activities

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • Some informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning. You also check your learning automatically on Canvas.

What else do I need to know?

  • You will need access to the internet via smart phone, tablet, or desktop computer. You will need a personal email address to join the WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas, so that you can learn online.

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

Conditions

This course is funded by the Greater London Combined Authority but is also open to residents of other areas.

  • You have a valid email address so that you can receive confirmation of your booking
  • You have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2020
  • You declare that the address you provide is correct and that you will provide evidence of this and your eligibility to live and work in the UK
